I like what you're doing with your site, I gave it a go but had some trouble, I guess I have to get better text files without all the extraneous text like chapter markers manually.. But I'd much rather use your site than have to use YouTube every time I want annotations.

I'm actually working on a web app of my own.
http://www.subparchaps.com
It was originally just a browser-based media player with subtitle support and editing, but I've added features which allow users to load JSON files that pop-up definitions and other information from other sources as certain keywords pop up in the subtitles. It's still needs work but I'm planning to release it, I'm just looking to see if there are other people interested in this sort of thing. Hopefully you find it to be a somewhat different take on what you're doing on Readiance.

We could eventually link to your app as an alternative to our Oku Player. Language learners for instance could find it more useful. If you're interested we can discuss the details once you release.

Sorry to hear that syncing didn't work for you. The interface was updated a couple of times since that post. Can you try again and let me know how it works? My email is ozdefir(at)gmail(dot)com.
